Pricing FAQ
Frequently asked questions about Exponent pricing
What are credits?
Credits are a unit of usage for premium models. You’ll consume a credit each time you send a message and for every action that Exponent proposes using premium models. Actions include terminal commands, file reads, and file edits.
Base vs Premium Models
Exponent offers two types of models:
- Premium Models: Our top tier models that provide the best output quality. These consume credits as described in this FAQ.
- Base Models: These have high usage limits and don’t consume credits. They may have lower output quality.
You can switch between model types with each chat.
When do credit limits reset?
Credit limits reset at the start of the month, or on your billing date if you have a paid subscription.
What if I run out of credits?
If you hit your credit limit, you won’t be able to continue using premium models. You can either:
- Switch to base models
- Wait for your limit to reset
- Purchase additional credits if you need them immediately
Can I predict how many credits I’ll use?
Yes. Each time you send a message to Exponent using premium models, you’ll use at least one credit for the prompt. You’ll use another credit if Exponent proposes an action, such as a file edit.
If you confirm the action, Exponent may decide to propose another action (using another credit). To avoid this, you can either confirm and stop
or reject
the action.
If you are using auto-confirm, Exponent may continue to propose more actions (using more credits) up to the step limit that you’ve configured.
How do I increase my credit limit on the Pro plan?
You can purchase additional monthly credits that add to the base limit of the Pro plan. You’ll be charged a pro-rated amount for the remaining days in your billing cycle, then the full amount at the start of the next billing cycle.
How do I cancel or downgrade my subscription?
You can cancel or downgrade your subscription using Manage Subscription
. You’ll keep your current credit limit until the end of your current billing cycle.
