Credits in Exponent
Credits are the core unit of usage in Exponent. Each interaction with Exponent consumes credits based on the complexity and resource requirements of the task.
Credit Consumption
You’ll consume credits in the following ways:
- Messages: Each message you send to Exponent consumes at least one credit
- Actions: When Exponent proposes an action (file edits, terminal commands, etc.), this consumes an additional credit
- Follow-up Actions: If you confirm an action, Exponent may propose subsequent actions, each consuming an additional credit
Controlling Credit Usage
There are several ways to manage your credit consumption:
- Reject Proposed Actions: If you don’t want Exponent to continue, you can reject an action to stop the flow
- Confirm and Stop: Use this option if you want to execute one action but don’t want Exponent to propose any more
- Auto-confirm Depth Limit: When using auto-confirm, set a step limit to control how many consecutive actions Exponent can take
Tracking Credits
You can track your credit usage and remaining credits in the Exponent settings.
